Spring Break in Philly: 10 Cool Things to Do!

Spring break is on its way, and we’ve picked the best events that are going on while you’re off from school. Plan ahead to see cool concerts, exhibits and eat at great restaurants.

2. Season Sneak Peak at the Eastern State Penitentiary
When: Friday, March 15th Where: Eastern State Penitentiary, 2027 Fairmount Avenue, Philadelphia Price: Free!

3. Beautopia: A Face of Odyssey
When: Saturday, March 16th at 8 p.m Where: The Mask & Wig Club, 310 S Quince St, Philadelphia Price: $15 for students
Grab a few friends and head over to this show at some point during your break. It’s a chance to see a fun production about a delivery boy on his way to Antartica who is frozen in a block of ice. When he wakes up, he finds that the world’s problems have been solved, but is under the rule of an evil dictator. We think the plot sounds super cool, and you get to enjoy the student price of only $15.
4. Pink
When: Sunday, March 17th at 7:30 p.m Where: Wells Fargo Center, 3601 South Broad Street, Philadelphia
Pink, song-writer and musician, will be performing live at the Wells Fargo Center! Tickets are nearly sold out, so hurry and gather a group of friends.
5. Disclosure
When: Tuesday, March 19th at 8:30 p.m Where: Union Transfer, 1024 Spring Garden St, Philadelphia Price: $15-$17
Everyone’s raving about this upcoming concert. Disclosure, an electronic band from the UK, will be performing live at one of Philly’s coolest concert venues-Union Transfer. Whether you’re already familiar with their music or not, we hear they’re great performers. A junior at Bryn Mawr College gave us the inside scoop, and she also bought her tickets way in advance. “Disclosure’s songs, for me, are a perfect mix of eclectic vocals and chill house music. ‘Latch’ and ‘Control’ are two of my favorite songs at the moment,” Deanna Chang said. 6. Eric Whitacre and the Eric Whitacre Singers Inspirations: North American Debut Tour
When: Wednesday, March 20th at 8 p.m Where: The Kimmel Center, 300 S Broad St Philadelphia Price: $24

7.The Angels’ Share, Screening for Passport to World Cinema
When: Thursday, March 21st at 7:30 p.m Where: The Gershman Y, 401 S Broad St Philadelphia Price: $5
Passport to World Cinema is a program featuring a handpicked selection of the year’s strongest films from around the globe. On March 21st, the program is screening the film The Angels’ Share, hailing from the UK, France, Belgium, and Italy by director Ken Loach. This awesome film is about a working-class hooligan and father-to-be, who sees a chance to turn his life of crime around.
8. Anberlin
When: Friday, March 22nd Where: Trocadero Theatre. 1003 Arch Street, Philadelphia Price: $22.50
Anberlin, an American rock band, will be performing at the Trocadero Theatre. Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 7:00pm. Come and jam with Anberlin at one of Philly’s most loved venues! Paper Route and All Get Out will also be performing.

There’s no better way to unwind on Sunday at noon than to enjoy brunch with a few of your friends. We love Sabrina’s because its fun, affordable and absolutely delicious. Starting at only $11, you’ll find great portion entrees that include stuffed french toast, pumpkin pancakes, and more. Note: they do not accept brunch reservations.

If you have the chance to check out some cool museums over break, we suggest this one. Philly has a bunch of great museums around, but this quirky place is definitely a good time. Check out antique medical equipment, wax models, and other medical oddities.
