It’s Official – Summer Is Here! Celebrate with These Local Events

We have a feeling the Fresh Prince of Philly’s classic “Summertime” was inspired by the best time of year in the City of Brotherly Love! So now that summer, summer, summertime is officially here, cue up that throwback on your Spotify and make plans to check out one or all of the events we’ve handpicked for you.

— Get your barbecue on at Dilworth Park from June 21-25 during their All-American BBQ series.

— Pack your 4.99 Wawa Hoagiefest hoagie, a blanket and invite your friends to one of these FREE outdoor movies! If you want movie AND music, there’s  The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King featuring The Philadelphia Orchestra at The Mann Center this Saturday.

— Jam out to good tunes at the Penn Museum, as they celebrate their eighth annual Summer Nights Concert Series! Concerts are presented every Wednesday evening, June 21 through September 6, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. And don’t stop there! Keep jamming into Thursday, June 22 at Spruce Street Harbor Park’s Waterfront Sessions Live Music Series.

— 21+! Grab beer with your buds at one of these outdoor beer gardens.

— Ride a Ferris Wheel, hop on a carousel, lace up your skates or get a hole in one at Friday’s grand opening of The Midway at the Blue Cross RiverRink’s SummerFest. After, head over to Philadelphia Magic Gardens for live music and crafting at Twilight in the Gardens.

— Stroll around Main Street Manayunk on Saturday and Sunday during the Manayunk Arts Festival.
