Meet The City
Friday night before CollegeFest, The Dance Cartel presents ONTHEFLOOR at the Philadelphia Museum of Art from 5:00 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. A brand new dance experience fusing a rigorous artistic approach with the vibrant social nature of dance. Driven by pumping bass, glitter, and dance theory in equal parts (almost), this energy-busting experience is unlike anything else. For tickets visit openartsphilly.com.
On Saturday during CollegeFest, check out the 4th Annual Philly Freestyle Skateboarding Championships at Paines Park, adjacent to the CollegeFest site at the Art Museum steps, along the Schuylkill River Trail. The competition starts at 11:30am with events including flatland freestyle, best trick, high ollie, and 360 spin. This is free to attend and there is more information at phillyfreestyle.com.
Saturday evening after CollegeFest, join us at Opera Philadelphia’s Opera on the Mall! A FREE, big-screen broadcast of Rossini’s classic comedy The Barber of Seville at Independence National Historical Park. Gates open at 5.30 p.m. with the pre-show [the Warner Brothers classic cartoon Rabbit of Seville] at 6:00 p.m., followed by the broadcast at 7:00 p.m. Arrive early, seats fill in fast. Register for tickets at openartsphilly.com.
