(the artist formerly known as) Graduate Hospital

Just outside of central Philadelphia lies a neighborhood ripe with boutiques and restaurants for the picking. Called by many names, South of South Street (SoSo)–otherwise known as Graduate Hospital (G-Ho) or Southwest Center City–is a bustling area of art and culture.

Insider Tips

Graduate Hospital is easily reached via SEPTA. The Broad Street Line provides the easiest route at the Lombard South station.

This area is generally defined between the blocks of South and Washington Streets and Broad to the Schuylkill River.

Swedish colonists owned most of what is now South Philadelphia throughout the 17th century. Many of the street names such as Catharine and Christian in the surrounding Graduate Hospital neighborhood originate from Swedish royalty.
