Stakeholder New June 2016

Campus Philly Stakeholder Newsletter

June 2016

Dear Campus Philly Stakeholder,

You might think Philadelphia would feel a little emptier in the summer when colleges and universities are not in session. But summer is a time for internships and, increasingly, Campus Philly’s employer partners are developing robust internship programs to complete needed projects over the summer and develop a talent pipeline for future hires. Campus Philly’s My Philly Summer program engages more than 25 employers and more than 1,000 interns to ensure interns get to know Philadelphia, get to know each other and feel welcomed by our city. We know that 71% of students with a summer internship in Philadelphia stay in Philadelphia for at least some time after they graduate. That’s much higher than the 47% that have a summer internship elsewhere and also higher than our region’s general college student retention rate of 64%. For employers just dipping their toe into internship waters, Campus Philly helps them figure out how to define great projects, recruit the best candidates and provide a great summer experience. For companies with developed internship programs, My Philly Summer provides a way for interns to get the full live/work experience in Philadelphia, including developing a professional and social network that makes choosing Philadelphia after graduation that much more likely.

If you’re hosting summer interns where you work, let us know. We’d love to meet them, welcome them to Philadelphia and introduce them to their peers around the city and region.

Have a great start to summer!

Sincerely,

Deborah Diamond

Campus Philly Escapes the 80’s

Spring RenewalCampus Philly has a serious commitment to team building, which is part of why we have such a strong, tight-knit staff. This past month, we took our commitment to the next level by participating in the interactive game “Escape the 1980’s.”

Escape The 1980s team building parties are real-life interactive adventure games, designed to promote teamwork and staff bonding. Our group ‘traveled back in time’ and became real-life detectives — working together to figure out clues and codes that lead us through a four-room interactive 80’s themed adventure.
If you are looking for a similar experience to have with your staff, we like, totally recommend this! Check out more info here.

Hello and Thank You to Campus Philly Supporters

A big welcome to Otis Hackney, Chief Education Officer of the City of Philadelphia, who joins Campus Philly’s Board of Directors! We also want to thank Ebony Staton-Weidman for her valuable support and service as she steps down from Campus Philly’s Board.

Campus Philly is also proud to welcome Vertex and DiD to our Corporate Membership Program as well as welcome back three others that have renewed their partnership for the coming year: Vanguard, Publicis Healthcare and TherapyNotes. We thank them — and all of our corporate members— for supporting Campus Philly’s mission and look forward to working with each of them to connect with our region’s college students and recent graduates.
