Dear Campus Philly Stakeholders,
It's a new year and we've got a new stakeholder format. But we are still continuing our mission to prepare college students to become our region's work-ready future leaders. Read about our Inclusive Leadership Conference, joint City Council higher education hearing, upcoming Online Job and Internship Fair and more below.
We'll start with an event that got to the heart of our mission of working directly with students. Nearly 400 college students learned about collaborative styles of leadership last Saturday at Campus Philly and Temple University’s co-produced Inclusive Leadership Conference. Campus Philly corporate member Vanguard served as the corporate sponsor for the day and led the way with a "Power of Authentic Leadership" workshop.
We were especially honored this month to be able to testify before city officials about our mission and impact. City Councilwoman and Education Committee Chairwoman Jannie Blackwell hosted Campus Philly, PhillyGoes2College, Graduate! Philadelphia and the Graduation Coach Campaign at a hearing on the City’s talent strategy for City Council on Wednesday, February 4. Campus Philly had a chance to share the stories of how our programs impact students and recent grads as Keyonna Butler (CCP ’15), Jalen Blot (Temple ’15), Ravin Rijhsinghani (Haverford ’15) and David Silver (Temple ’13) all described their Campus Philly experiences for the Council.
Speaking of students and Campus Philly…
Part of David Silver’s testimony at the City Council hearing focused on how he found a job through a Campus Philly event. Now is your chance to recruit talent from 31 colleges and universities throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. The Campus Philly Online Job & Internship Fair is taking place March 23 – 27, 2015 — all online and for free! This year, we’re featuring both jobs AND internships for college students as well as recent and soon-to-be grads. Go to campusphilly.org/careers and register your opportunities today.
The more, the merrier.
Of course, we could not do the work we are doing without the generous support of stakeholders like you. Campus Philly is proud to welcome three new companies to our Corporate Membership Program: Independence Blue Cross, GSK and Republic Bank. We thank them – and all of our corporate members – for supporting Campus Philly's mission and look forward to working with each of them to connect with our region's college students and recent graduates.
And a final congrats.
We would also like to take the time to highlight one of our college partners celebrating a landmark anniversary — Harcum College turns 100 years old this year! The school has been educating students in the arts and occupational skills since 1915 and currently has 1,700 students and more than 20 majors, including dental hygiene, early childhood education, physical therapy, law & justice, and nursing at their Bryn Mawr campus. The College offers continuing education and professional development courses, as well as degree programs at various partnership sites across the Delaware Valley.
Thanks as always for your continued support of Campus Philly,
Deborah Diamond, Ph.D.
