Tis the season for hanging outside, road trips and festivals! And following our Geek’s Guide to Philadelphia event at Seer Interactive, we’re especially excited for Philadelphia Science Festival and Philly Tech Week! Below see our picks for both upcoming weeks.

Philadelphia Science Festival | April 21-29 | Citywide
About: The Philadelphia Science Festival is a nine-day, community-wide celebration of science that takes place annually in April. Featuring lectures, debates, hands-on activities, special exhibitions and a variety of other informal science education experiences for all ages, the Festival aims to provide opportunities for all Philadelphians to positively engage with and build a community around science, engineering, and technology.

Philadelphia Science Festival events to look out for:

Science After Hours: Prom
When: Friday, April 21 from 7-10 p.m. 
Where:
Franklin Institute, 271 N. 21st St. 
Kick off the Philadelphia Science Festival with a prom! Part of The Franklin Institute’s popular Science After Hours event series, join us for the ultimate scientific soiree, where the punch will be spiked and the science will shine brightly like a sequined gown. This event is 21+.

Geek Out Game Show!
When: Wednesday, April 25 from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Where: Franklin Institute, 222 North 20th Street
Are you a science whiz with a competitive streak? Several lucky contestants will put their knowledge to the test in a series of wild and weird science challenges with the hope of being crowned the champion. Sip on a drink from the cash bar as you watch contestants tackle one crazy competition after another—and experience how outrageous science can be!

Science Carnival at Penn’s Landing
When: Sunday, April 29 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Where: Penn’s Landing, 101 S. Columbus Blvd.
The 2017 Philadelphia Science Festival culminates in a super-charged, super-fun celebration of science! This FREE event is unlike any other – with dynamic demonstrations, engaging experiments, geeky games, and electrifying entertainment for the whole family. You’ve never experienced science like this!


Philly Tech Week | April 28-May 6 | Citywide
Philly Tech Week 2017 is a week-long celebration of technology and innovation happening throughout the Greater Philadelphia region. There’s something for everyone!

See all the Innovation that Philadelphia’s tech scene has to offer. One stop at a time. College Pathways into Tech

There’s more to technology than coding and there are more technology majors than Computer Science. Which major do you choose to create video games? What do you study to work with computer hardware? Is there a degree program for learning about big data? Hear from college faculty about the variety of ways students can study and, ultimately, work in technology.

Philly Tech Week Block Party!
When:
Thursday, May 4 from 4-8 p.m.
Over 60 of the city’s greatest game developers will be presenting the best video games of the century for EVERYONE to play! Join Philadelphia game devs, street vendors, artists, and local businesses as we turn Schmidt Commons (The Piazza) into a playground for people of all ages.
