An Inside Look into Chestnut Hill’s Witches and Wizards Festival

On October 20, I spent the day at the Witches and Wizards Festival (formerly Harry Potter Festival) in Chestnut Hill. The Witches and Wizards Festival is an annual festival that celebrates the mystical and spooky, with a lot of elements from the Harry Potter series incorporated, by lining the streets with a ton of fun activities! Missed out on this year’s event? Check out Campus Philly’s inside look in our blog post, and be sure to add the Witches and Wizards Festival to your calendar next year, because this is one event you do not want to miss! Here are our recommendations for having the best time at the Witches and Wizards Festival:

Check out the food.

With butterbeer (oh yes, we said butterbeer) on every corner and the host of restaurants native to Chestnut Hill, there is guaranteed to be something for everyone!

Butterbeer, a butterscotch flavored beverage
A Spurrito, which is an Australian twist on a burrito!

Watch the Performances

With acts like trapeze artists, jugglers, and fire benders, there was no shortage of Instagram-worthy happenings throughout the day.

Relax with your friends!

The festival had numerous opportunities to relax with your friends and get off your campus, exploring Chestnut Hill and escaping to the wizard world for the afternoon. People-watch on hay stacks, take a tractor ride down historic Germantown Avenue, and enjoy the many sights and sounds of the festival!

This year’s Witches and Wizards Festival was incredible, and was the best year yet, including Friday night events like a pub crawl, a Quidditch tournament at Chestnut Hill College, and a straw maze!
