Each month, Spotlight Tours focus on a different artist or theme, allowing for a deeper dive into specific areas of the collection. In its day, impressionism was considered a radical break with the traditions of art—an attack on the establishment. It was perceived as unfinished and unpolished. Critics found its use of bright color shocking to the eye and were confused by its elevation of the everyday. During this tour, you’ll learn more about Monet, Degas, Renoir, Pissarro, and other artists who were pivotal to this first movement of modern art and how they changed the very nature of how we think about art today. Includes access to the collection before and after the tour. More information here.

Thursday-Monday, 1pm

Weekdays: $35; weekends: $45; members free
