Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA: Student Access Coordinator for Campus Philly

The Campus Compact AmeriCorps VISTA program places AmeriCorps VISTA members in full service with our campus and community partners for a one-year period. During this year, members spend 35 hours per week on their host site’s campus or with one of that campus’s community partners to work on building systems and programs that support low-income college students and community members. The VISTA member’s work is to build capacity, meaning that rather than directly serving the community, they’re enhancing or creating systems, structures, and resources that support the direct anti-poverty work. Campus Compact functions as the central VISTA program hub, performing program administration, offering training and support to VISTA members and their projects, and connecting the work happening in individual projects both to similar work happening nationwide and back to AmeriCorps. Summary of Position: 

Campus Philly is a twenty-year old nonprofit focused on fueling inclusive economic growth by empowering diverse college students and recent graduates to explore, live, and work in Greater Philadelphia. Campus Philly works with 30+ high school and college partners across the region to help students choose to stay in the region after they graduate.  

The goal of this VISTA project is to encourage local, BIPOC, low-income, and first-generation high school students and community college students to enroll into colleges and universities in Greater Philadelphia and to connect them to key resources and opportunities, including internships and jobs, to ensure they remain in the region after graduation. The Campus Philly Access Coordinator will play a pivotal role in ensuring this goal is met.  

 

Responsibilities 

  • Partnerships: Strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including the Community College of Philadelphia and 3-4 local high schools, to ensure their ongoing participation in our college choice programming and to connect them to Campus Philly’s broader efforts to engage and retain college grads in the region.  
  • Program Development: Further define and develop all programming and collateral associated with the goal of this project. 
  • Staffing: Support Campus Philly Street Team members to deliver key programming related to this project. Provide ongoing recruitment, support, and development to this group.  
  • Program Delivery: Deliver developed programs and interventions to local high school and community college students. Support the street team in presenting Choose Philly workshop to high school students and attend events to table and talk with students about college options.  
  • Data & Evaluation: Develop and implement the data collection framework necessary to report on deliverables for this VISTA project. 
  • Attend orientation, weekly meetings, days of service, and trainings/retreats coordinated by Campus Compact 
  • Complete data collection and reporting activities required by Campus Compact and AmeriCorps

Requirements  

  • BA/BS or equivalent experience 
  • US Citizen, national, DACA status, or legal permanent resident 
  • Must be able to complete federal background check 
  • Licensed driver with access to a vehicle preferred 

 

This is a Hybrid position: The VISTA will primarily work from a location of their choosing with monthly all-staff meetings taking place at Campus Philly’s co-working space in Philadelphia. Additionally, the VISTA may meet with their supervisor in-person and/or be at partner location in Greater Philadelphia 1-2x per week. The VISTA must be located in the Greater Philadelphia Region to ensure attendance for in person meetings and events.  

 

Hours 

  • Monday- Thursday 9am-5pm 
  • Friday 9am-1pm 
  • Availability to work some weekends and evenings if required for staffing of events
