Campus Philly Stakeholder Newsletter

April 2017

Dear Campus Philly Stakeholders,

Campus Philly’s Online Job and Internship Week helped more than 1,000 students find summer internships in Greater Philadelphia. But just because the week is over, doesn’t mean we’re done. In this month’s newsletter, read about how Campus Philly is helping college students and regional employers make the most of a summer in Philadelphia. And, for students and employers still looking to meet their match, campusphilly.org/launch is open for business and free to use.

Are Your Interns Ready to Make the Most of Philly?

Summer is around the corner – are you ready to welcome your summer interns? Here are some tips to ensure your interns have a great experience:

  • First day – introduce the range of opportunities at the firm, both for the summer and long-term. Interns cite growth opportunities as a key factor when choosing an internship.
  • Mentorship – consider creating formal mentor roles that connect interns to experienced professionals within your organization (who are not their boss/intern supervisor).
  • Enroll in the My Philly Summer Program. Campus Philly’s successful intern engagement program will boost your intern’s summer experience. As part of the program, your interns will receive an invite to join this year’s My Philly Summer Party at the Free Library of Philadelphia‘s fourth floor outdoor deck on Tuesday, July 18, 2017. Interested? Contact Ashlie Thornbury at ashlie@campusphilly.org.

Students & Regional Employers Meet Their Match

Campus Philly played matchmaker for thousands of students looking for summer internships or post-graduation jobs and hundreds of employers seeking the region’s best talent during Online Job & Internship Week (OJIW). The virtual fair ran March 27-31, 2017 on Campus Philly’s awesome launch site. Some highlights from OJIW include:

  • 1,078 students searched for their dream gig
  • 781 students created accounts for the first time on campusphilly.org/launch

212 employers were actively posting and searching during the week. Campus Philly is excited to meet the students who’ve found their summer internship through OJIW during one of the My Philly Summer events.

Geeky Philadelphia Unites!

On April 11th Campus Philly led its second annual Geek’s Guide to Philadelphia – an event that gives local students the chance to look inside at what the city’s tech and science enthusiasts are up to.

Thanks to our speakers who came out to share what they love about Geeky Philadelphia. Speakers included representatives from organizations like Comcast, Seer Interactive, Vanguard, Indy Hall, BlackTribbles, and TechGirlz.

The Geek’s Guide to Philadelphia serves as an introduction to late April’s Philadelphia Science Festival and Philly Tech Week.
